Jul 18, 2019 Spotlight News Blogs, Community Blogs, Opinion

VOORHEESVILLE LIBRARY: Experience the Solar System

On Saturday, July 20, students in grades 1 and up, with families, can experience a full immersion walk through of our solar system. Join us at 10 a.m. to travel into the solar system on a glow-in-the-dark path past scalar size planets with their moons. Dodge asteroids as you learn about constellations and comets too!  Please register.

Baking battle

So you think you can bake? Join our Bar Crawl Bakers Battle at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 22 and put your best up against others. Bring your samples and leave a champion. Prizes will be awarded. Adults, and students in grades seven and up should register.

ENCORE! Books

ENCORE! Books hours are Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursdays, 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. All donations will be accepted at the sheds during open hours or by appointment. To schedule an appointment, please email the FOL at [email protected] The fall book sale date is September 20-22.

Fall gardening

Did you know that spring time is not the only time you can plant crops? Join our Seed Library volunteers at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, to discuss what you can plant for a fall harvest and when to plant them.  We’ll also discuss any challenges you may have with your current crops. Please register.

Registration

Registering for programs helps us to determine supply needs. Unless otherwise indicated, registration is requested for all programs. You can register in person, by phone (518-765-2791) or using our online calendar at http://voorheesvillelibrary.org/calendar.asp.

Clear out the bus stops on Rt. 9 Watervliet/Latham. Kids are standing in road! The stop right ahead of the circle had about a dozen people balancing on iced over roads. A little further down a mother was body shielding her toddler while they waited for the bus...once again in the road because the stop was snowed in. Shameful!!
