Elizabeth Zunon reads her author-illustrated picture book, “Grandpa Cacao: a Tale of Chocolate, from Farm to Family”, for grades K-5 on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. A cocoa and chocolate show-and-tell will follow, and kids can decorate their own chocolate bar wrapper. Candy Kraft Candies is kindly donating chocolates for this program. Register each child for this program online, by phone or in person.
“Miracle”
We’re commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid with the PG movie “Miracle” on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. Based on one of the greatest moments in sports history, this movie recreates the epic David vs. Goliath Cold War hockey battle. Popcorn is provided.
College, cocoa
Tweens and teens (ages 11 to 17) are invited to repurpose old magazines into original art with “Collage and Cocoa” on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 3:30 p.m. We’ll savor a relaxing afternoon, sipping cocoa and creating collages at our own pace. Please register in advance.
Meet a local K-9
Ever wonder what a police dog does? Come find out on Fri. Feb. 21 at 2:00 p.m. as Guilderland Police Officer Don Jones and his canine partner, Zeus, visit GPL. Learn how police dogs are selected and trained, and watch Zeus in action. This is a family/all ages event.

Cookbook Club
Leap Day will be hopping at GPL with a special edition of Cookbook Club on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 11 a.m. Alexandra Stafford, Niskayuna resident and author of Bread Toast Crumbs: Recipes for No-Knead Loaves and Meals to Savor Every Slice will be here for an author talk and food demo. Ms. Stafford will sell and sign copies of her book after the program ($25, cash or check only). Please register at our adult reference desk and choose your recipe in advance. Bring your completed dish to share on Feb. 29 with serving utensils; we’ll provide the rest.
