BETHLEHEM — Kevin Piccolino’s overtime goal gave Bethlehem a 1-0 victory over Shaker in a Suburban Council boys soccer battle Thursday, Sept. 8.
Derin Gumustop took a throw in from the left sideline and found Piccolino at the top of the penalty box in Shaker territory. With a defender draped on him and his back to the goal, Piccolino controlled the ball, turned left and shot the game winner inside the far post.
Bethlehem (3-0) controlled the action in the first half, but couldn’t get on the scoreboard. Shaker (2-1) had several chances in the second half, but goaltender Ryan Henning made several big saves to keep the game scoreless.
Bethlehem travels to Shenendehowa Saturday, while Shaker hosts Guilderland.
