ALBANY COUNTY Lansingburgh handed Voorheesville its first loss of the season by beating the Blackbirds 64-52 in a Colonial Council boys basketball game Friday, Jan. 8.
After a slow start, the Knights outscored the Blackbirds 35-25 over the course of the second and third quarters to build a 44-35 lead. Voorheesville hung tough in the fourth quarter, but Lansingburgh pulled away for the 12-point victory.
Davonte Jones netted 19 points, and Hamahdji Covington contributed 15 points for Lansingburgh. Trevor Riede had 16 points, and Justin Burke added 13 points for Voorheesville.
In the Suburban Council, Colonie closed the game on a 30-16 run to defeat Christian Brothers Academy 48-37. Isaiah Moll poured in 25 points for the Garnet Raiders, while Sloan Seymour (15 points) and Mike Wynn (14 points) accounted for most of CBA’s offense.
Shaker outscored Mohonasen 20-8 in the fourth quarter on its way to a 56-35 victory. Brian Hayes had 16 points for the Blue Bison, while Duncan Tallman’s 13 points paced the Mighty Warriors.
Michael Wine’s 17-point performance helped Guilderland defeat Albany 70-57. Michael Henderson and Andrew Sischo each chipped in with 14 points for the Dutchmen. Isaiah Scurry led Albany with 13 points.
Troy scored 25 points in the fourth quarter to fend off Bethlehem 79-71. Daniel Buie scored 21 points, and Ryan Carmello added 18 points for the Flying Horses.
Zane Thompson led Bethlehem with 22 points, and Matthew Riker contributed 11 points.
Loudonville Christian School downed Heatly 58-41 in a Central Hudson Valley League game. Thomas Seeberger had 21 points, and Jonathan Schafer added 10 points for the Eagles.
Albany Academy downed Watervliet 80-58 in a non-league game. Hameir Wright poured in 28 points, and Sal Arena chipped in with 13 points for the Cadets, who jumped out to a 24-9 lead in the first quarter.
Ty’Jon Gilmore netted 24 points, and Darren Whited added 12 points for Watervliet.
