Night: Rockin’ on The River
TROY — The Collar City’s free, outdoor, summer concert series continues at 5 p.m. at Riverfront Park off of Front Street in downtown Troy with performances by Darling Valley, the winner of WVCR’s “Play to Play” contest, and “the ultimate Queen experience,” Almost Queen.
Darling Valley combines the diverse talent of two married couples who play a variety of instruments to create a pretty, rich folk-pop sound with imaginative lyrics. The local quartet not only released a pair of full-length albums and an EP, but also had multiple songs featured in hit MTV dramas and other production under its previous name, Accents. Darling Valley showcases the talents of TJ Foster on vocals, guitar and banjo, both Lauren Foster and Ashleigh Whitfeld on vocals, and Joradan Stewart on guitar, bass and mandolin. All four members play percussion live, on different drums at different times.

Day: Barker Park Kids’ Summer Series
TROY— The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Corporation, in cooperation the City of Troy and The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, announces free summer fun for children with the third annual Barker Park Kids’ Summer Series!
This year’s weekly pirate-themed series begins on Thursday, July 7 at 11 a.m. in the park, located on the corner of 3rd and State Streets in downtown Troy.
The Ramblin’ Jug Stompers will kick off this summer’s eight-week season.
Ramblin Jug Stompers play 78 rpm music for the 21st century. With banjo, mandolin, guitar, washboard and more, New York State’s premier jug band fuses the ragtime sounds of the 1920s with the bluegrass edge of the ’40s; mines the manic energy of ’60s folk revival acts; and adds a contemporary comic sensibility all its own. It’s funky American string band music!
Concerts and activities take place every Thursday through August 25.
