NORMANSVILLE — Town Police are looking into the cause of a motorcycle accident that left its operator hospitalized.
The Bethlehem Police Department reported a serious motorcycle crash occurred on Old Brick Road, off of Delaware Avenue, outside of Normansville, Wednesday, July 27, at approximately 5:15 p.m. A 58 year-old Delmar man was found by emergency response crews lying in the roadway adjacent to the motorcycle.
Police said initial investigating revealed the motorcycle left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a guard rail. At this time it appears that no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The cause of this crash is still under investigation.
The accident victim was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital by Delmar-Bethlehem EMS and Albany County Paramedics; and is currently in serious condition. At this time the name of the operator is not being released so that contact can be made with relatives.
The Elsmere Fire Department also responded and assisted at the scene. Anyone who was in the area around this time or has any information about the crash is asked to contact Bethlehem Police at 518-439-9973.
Old Brick Road, which leads to Normansville, is still commonly referred to the “Yellow Brick Road” before it was ultimately paved over with blacktop sometime in the 1990s.
