In recognition of America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, students from the Bethlehem Central High Lab School visited all district elementary schools during lunch to share presentations highlighting recycling and composting programs across the district. According to the district, thousands of pounds of recyclable material and compostable food waste are diverted from the waste stream each year due to the efforts of Bethlehem students and staff. America Recycles Day is a nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Each year, thousands of communities across the country participate by promoting environmental citizenship and taking action to increase and improve recycling in America.
This weekend, the district will team with the Town of Bethlehem and the Delmar Farmers Market to hold the town’s Third Annual America Recycles Day Collection Event on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Central Middle School.
This event will feature a clothing and other textile recycling collection open to all Capital Region residents, and this year it will also include a book reuse/recycling collection and secure document shredding. Shredding is limited to Town of Bethlehem residents and BCSD taxpayers with ID; with a maximum of 3 medium-sized boxes per household.
