COLONIE – State Police arrested a Voorheesville woman for stealing and forging checks from a town business.
Bryande A. Murray allegedly stole four checks from the owners of Cinnamon and Light, LLC, better known as The School of Rock, and then forged and cashed three of them worth $1,000.
Her Facebook page says she began working at the School of Rock in August as the general manager. Her duties included “managing the school, handling administrative duties, recruitment and enrollment as well as client/student relations, publicity and on site marketing, along with even set up and booking.”
She was fired shortly after the school’s proprietors discovered the checks missing. The new general manager, Jesse Calhoun, said the alleged thefts happened before he started working at the school.
“We are happy to be moving forward with the business,” said Calhoun, who was hired in November. “It’s a great after school program.”
Murray faces three felonies counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Bethlehem Court on Jan. 3, 2017.
