BETHLEHEM — The Town of Bethlehem is inviting residents to attend a public workshop on open space conservation planning on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the new Five Rivers Environmental Education Center at 56 Game Farm Road in Delmar.
In an announcement released by the town’s Department of Economic Development and Planning, “As the town continues to grow and develop, it’s important to meet that growth with a strong understanding of our remaining open and natural spaces so that we are best able to wisely shape and balance the community as it inevitably changes. The goal of the workshop is to present information on the town’s open space planning efforts and gather input from the public as the town works toward developing an Open Space Plan and implementation program.”
The workshop’s open house format will encourage participants to engage in discussions at several information stations, each of which will be focused on different elements of open space planning and implementation. There will also be a series of draft open space values maps and draft priority conservation areas on display for review and feedback.
In addition, Bethlehem town planning staff members will host an information table at the Delmar Farmers Market, on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They recommend that any interested residents who are not able to attend the evening workshop stop by to learn more about open space planning in town.
