BETHLEHEM—The town’s annual spring recycling event, co-sponsored by Bethlehem Central School District’s Green Team, Delmar Farmers Market, Grassroot Givers and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County, will take place at Elm Avenue Park this Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Drop-offs for reuse, recycling and shredding are free, while electronic, appliance and scrap metal recycling require a $5 donation to the Bethlehem Central High School Environmental Club per car.
The town’s third annual “Spring Recycle Fest,” held last April, broke previous records with 805 households dropping off approximately 50,730 pounds (or more than 25 tons) of materials, which averages out to nearly 6 pounds for every household in Bethlehem. More than $2,000 in donations were also raised to support Bethlehem Central School District’s environmental programs.
Town Recycling Coordinator Dan Lilkas-Rain hopes to break records again this year.
