LATHAM — Colonie Police said a 36-year-old man has confessed after he was confronted with details of a sexual relationship he was having with his stepson’s 16-year-old girlfriend.
Jesse DeLong, of 5 Oxford Dr. in Latham, could face as much as three years in prison as police charged him last week with second-degree rape. DeLong is alleged to have had an intimate relationship with the teenaged victim going as far back as 2014. Colonie Police said the details of the relationship were revealed after a domestic dispute, and not initially reported by the victim. The age of consent in New York state is 17.
The victim is reportedly pregnant, but the paternity of the pregnancy has not been determined.
DeLong was arraigned in Colonie Justice Court Thursday, May 19, in front of town justice Andrew Sommers. The jurisdiction of the case has since been waved to Albany County, and the details are to be presented for the review of a grand jury.
According to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, DeLong remains in Albany County Jail without bail.
