COLONIE – A routine traffic stop on Monday, Feb. 19, led to an arrest on felony weapon and drug charges.
According to Lt. Robert Winn, at 8:16 p.m. Officer Javier Martinez stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Albany Shaker and Wolf roads for failure to keep right and for not having a front license plate.
After a short investigation, Winn said Martinez located a bag containing 22 grams of heroin on the driver. A more thorough check of the vehicle uncovered narcotic packaging material, a scale and syringes in the front seat and a loaded, Springfield 9 mm handgun in the trunk.
The driver, 34-year-old Donald Geddes, of 12 Poplar St. in Colonie, is charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance as well the misdemeanor of criminal use of drug paraphernalia. He was also ticketed for the traffic infractions mentioned above.
He was taken to Albany County jail pending arraignment.
