GUILDERLAND – A Colonie man was arrested after leading State Police troopers on a short chase that ended when he crashed on I-87 near exit 2E.
According to the State Police, troopers tried to pull Anthony Hawkins over at around 2:20 a.m. on Fuller Road.
Rather than stop, Hawkins got on I-87 and tried to drive away. There is no indication he was injured in the crash.
He was charged with the felonies of DWI with a prior conviction within 10 years and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, the misdemeanors of unlawful fleeing a police officer, reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle without a court mandated interlock device as well as a host of vehicle and traffic tickets.
He was arraigned in Albany City Court and remanded to the Albany County jail on $15,000 bail.
