GUILDERLAND — Guilderland Central School District parents and students are invited to attend a free viewing of the documentary “Screenagers” on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Farnsworth Middle School cafetorium at 6072 State Farm Road in Guilderland. The event is being co-sponsored by the Guilderland Public Library.
According to the district, the film focuses on how the digital age impacts children by highlighting the struggles of social media, video games, academics, and internet addiction. It also includes strategies for how to empower students to better navigate the digital world and how families can minimize the harmful effects and find balance.
Immediately following the screening, a panel of high school and middle school students and educators will co-facilitate a conversation regarding the film’s themes and discuss data from a survey filled out by middle school students.
While the film is generally aimed at parents and middle and high school students, any students are welcome to attend with their parents.
GCSD invites middle school students to fill out a brief “Growing Up in a Digital World” survey. The data collected will be used for the upcoming panel’s discussions. A link to the survey can be found here.
The event is free and no RSVP is needed. Please contact 518-456-6200, ext. 3119, with any questions about the event.
