It is the mission of The Spotlight to be a vibrant, trustworthy and indispensable source of local news as well as a viable marketing vehicle for businesses throughout the unique communities we serve. We adhere to a philosophy that high-quality community newspapers, specialty publications and online products will build value for our readers, clients, shareholders and employees.
The Spotlight was started in 1955 as a small publication in Delmar, NY, and in the decades that have followed the paper has blossomed into the preeminent source for local news coverage in the greater Capital District. The Spotlight now produces five local, weekly editions in Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady and Saratoga counties, with a combined circulation of more than 20,000. Our newspapers are a mixture of paid subscription weeklies, free publications and total market publications.
The Spotlight also publishes two monthly niche publications, Capital District Parent Pages and Capital District Senior Spotlight, that have distribution in Rensselaer and Columbia and Warren counties in addition to the Capital District.
These publications, along with The Spotlight’s corresponding web properties, provide readers with unparalleled coverage of community news and events, and advertisers with unparalleled exposure to consumers.
The staff of The Spotlight actively participates in service organizations, chambers of commerce, charitable groups and community events. We’re proud of this involvement, and feel that the quality and commitment of our staff is the driving force behind the success of our company. As publisher, I can truly say I work with some of the most intelligent and dedicated professionals in this industry. They make me proud to be associated with this company.
Feedback from our readers and advertisers, either positive or critical, makes our newspapers and publications stronger. I’d like to invite our readers and advertisers to contact me at (518) 439-4949 ext. 420, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or in person at 341 Delaware Avenue (PO Box 100 for mail), Delmar NY 12054. I’d be more than happy to make your acquaintance.
